Zoe Hope has had a big day today. Her eyes were tested by an eye specialist This procedure is very stressful for babies and can set them back for a few days after.
She has been diagnosed with Stage 2 ROP.
This condition causes the blood vessels behind the eye to grow rapidly and can cause the retina to pull away. The treatment for ROP is through a very high level of oxygen to help them shrink. (Too much oxygen when she was so tiny has caused this however as they are older the oxygen helps to improve these vessels). The doctors will keep an eye on the vessels over the coming weeks and if they don't shrink she may need laser surgery on them.
